As the countdown to the 2018 IICSE begins I want to share some reflections on our last IICSE. Dr.  Stephen Reel's keynote is the perfect place to start.  He encouraged participants to never loose sight of or "rediscover the most important aspect of Christian Schools". His challenge, available to all within his book, Clear Focus, was the importance of understanding that Christian school educators too often think about the "what" of education and as a result loose the FOCUS on the WHO.  It is Jesus Christ that must always remain the focal point of everything done and therefore the coherence factor of the curriculum.

"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.  For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things have been created Through HIM and FOR HIM, He is before all things and in Him all things h*** together"  Colossians 2:15-17

If Jesus is to have first place within the school and classroom He must have first place within the heart of each member of a school's faculty and staff. Dr. Roy Lowrie, co-founder of IICSE, in light of this truth often reminded delegates that they are the "gold in the bank" or gold standard for the Christian School.

The IICSE's purpose is to not only introduce new faculty and staff to the distinctives of the Christian school, as well as challenge delegates, regardless of their experience, to understand and apply the philosophy of Christian School education.

SAVE THE DATE:  July 8-12, 2018 on the campus of Columbia International University.
